Scenic Eclipse Travel Advice

Current travel advice for Scenic Eclipse, our first Discovery Yacht, as of September 24, 2024

On 12th September 2024, Scenic Eclipse experienced a technical issue affecting one of its two Azipod propulsion units whilst sailing in the Arctic region. Since this date, Scenic Eclipse has been operating safely at a reduced propulsion capacity and continues to navigate at lower speeds and this may result in potential adjustments to guest ports and the duration of stays at those ports on upcoming itineraries. The ship Azipod system is supplied and maintained by ABB Group and is a high-tech alternative to the traditional thrusters on a ship.

Our team are working closely with ABB Group’s engineers, and we have been required to secure a dry dock as a priority to carry out maintenance from 28th October to early November 2024. This important work has required the cancellation of three upcoming voyages in the Caribbean and Brazil, with Scenic Eclipse scheduled to return to full operation for the Antarctica season (beginning from late November).

We understand this will inconvenience our valued guests on these voyages and share their disappointment, due to the late cancellation of these cruises. Our reservations and sales teams are working with our valued travel advisors and impacted guests to adjust their travel arrangements.

If you have questions regarding potential impacts on your upcoming departure, please contact your Travel Advisor, or our reservations team on 1 866 689 8611.

The Scenic Group management team are committed to doing everything we can and will provide further updates as the situation progresses.
